THE FIRST ORDINARY MEETING OF THE SECOND SESSION OF THE NINTH ASSEMBLY 22ND JULY, 2025

The meeting commenced at 10:00am with an opening prayer said by Hon. Samuel Atakorah. The Honourable Presiding Member led the House to recite the National Pledge to officially commence the meeting. The Hon. Presiding Member (PM) welcomed Hon. Members and everyone present. He commended Honourable Members for their hundred percent (100%) votes for the Municipal Chief Executive. The PM continued to congratulate the newly appointed Honourable Members and was quick to add that the House was guided by the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) and Order 23 Standing Orders and therefore should watch and learn the proceedings of the House for decorum.

The Hon. Member of Parliament (MP) indicated that he was privileged to be part of the First Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Assembly and he expressed his gratitude to the constituents of Assin Central for their votes, the Hon. Assembly Members for the 100% votes for the MCE and finally to the MCD, HOD’s, Management and staff of the Assembly. The MP outlined two immediate priorities that he would address head on which were Sanitation and Water Crisis within Assin Central. He also encouraged Hon. Members to list all uncompleted projects in their jurisdiction for redress as soon as possible. The MP concluded his remarks by congratulating the MCE on his unanimous confirmation, he also thanked the MCD and reassured everyone in the House of his commitment to work and encouraged all to put aside political sentiments in order to work together effectively for maximum efficiency. The Municipal Chief Executive made a promise to the House that the confidence reposed in him, would be channeled to serve the good people in the municipality and urged the Hon. Members to approach their duties with humility, integrity, and commitment to serve the greater good of the Municipality. The Municipal Chief Executive stated that as part of management’s financial responsibility and commitment to local economic development, the Assembly continued to prioritize the efficient mobilization of Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to support both recurrent and development-related expenditure. The MCE informed the House that, Management and MUSEC were working hand-in hand to ensure that peace and security prevailed in the Municipality. He also assured the House that the Neighbourhood Watch Committees would soon be inaugurated, and added that the District Police Commander was in-charge and would see to it that the necessary requirements were met before the inauguration. In his closing remarks, the Hon. Presiding Member thanked Hon. Assembly Members, Hon. Member of Parliament, and the Heads of Departments for honouring the invitation for the first ordinary meeting. He wished everyone a safe journey back to their respective destinations
