SMARTWORKPLACE TRAINING BY OHLGS AND SMARTINFRACO 26th SEPTEMBER, 2025

Government, through the Ministry of Communications and its implementing agency National Information Technology Agency (NITA),  is deploying the Smart Workplace solution to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

On the 26th of September, 2025 the Assin Foso Municipal Assembly had its training for staff members at the Community Internet Cafe. The Smart Workplace solution has over 19 features and several benefits. It provides staff with a highly efficient virtual work environment with a single access point to all resources by interfacing with MDAs and MMDAs internal (in-house) systems. These include: Enterprise Email, Calendar, Microsoft Teams (video conferencing), Document Management, Correspondence Management, Electronic Memos, Corporate News/Announcements, Enterprise Search, Task Management, Knowledge Management, and Workflow Automation.

The training was expertly facilitated by resource persons from the Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS) and eSolutions. These facilitators brought a wealth of experience and practical insights into the use of the Smart Workplace platform, demonstrating its key features, benefits, and best practices for effective implementation. Their presentations, interactive discussions, and hands-on demonstrations equipped participants with the necessary skills and understanding to integrate the portal into their daily operations successfully.

The Resource person, during his presentation, also reiterated the relevance of the digitalization agenda of Local Government Service. He stated that the Smart Workplace portal which can be accessed on every computer has Staff hub, microsoft Teams, E-memo, IT help desk, Announcement requests, E-leave among other related office applications. He further disclosed that the portal was well automated that it could be accessed anywhere one finds him or herself. He also added that emails would serve as the main notification channel, hence, when a staff logs onto the portal, the system easily identifies the person.
