ASSIN CENTRAL MP DONATES TO JHS GRADUATES
The MP of Assin Central Constituency, Hon. Nurein Shaibu Migyimah on the 9th of October, 2025 made a donation of chop box, trunk, mattress and provisions to all JHS graduates in the constituency. During the ceremony, the municipal director of education, Mr. Robert Brigas Awunor comended the MP for lessening the financial burden on parents, whiles congratulating the students for their utmost performance and urge them to continue that performance in the 2nd cycle institution. He emphasised that education is the most powerful tool to change the world and said that this occasion marks a partnership between political, education and communities. He ended by congratulating the teachers and urge them to continue their good work and hope the MP will remember the teachers and do such a beautiful thing for the teachers like he has done for the children.
The Municipal coordinating director, Mr. Saaka Ibrahim in his address made everyone present aware Ā that the MCE's absence was due to a retreat for all MCEs in central region that he was attending. He urged parents to take a cue from what the MP has done and invest in their wards education, for education is what will place them amongst the rich, the elite and well to do in society. He asked the students to justify the investment the MP is doing by doing their best in the 2nd cycle schools, he thanked the MP and everyone who made the ceremony a success.
The MP (Hon. Shaibu Nurien Migyimah) said he has given scholarships to 36 students at the university level and that education is his top most priorities. He then said there are hostels to accommodate over 1,000 people who want to learn any vocational trade at Foso for free, especially those living in remote and rural areas within the constituency. He said this donation is to motivate those still in schools to also give their best and pass their exams. Over 2,000 students received these items. Below was how distributions were made:
1. Aggregate 6 - 15 will get chop box, trunk, mattresses, provisions
2. Aggregate 16 - 21 chop box, trunk, mattressĀ
3. Aggregate 22 upwards chop box
He said there are plans to build an ultra modern stadium at the Jomsco Park with a capacity of 5,000.
The Overall best student was:
Joycelyn Donkor who attended Girls model school at Atonsu, she has a hearing impairment but was the overall best student in the constituency. The MP promised to assist her and the family take care of the impairment.
