A MEETING WITH THE PRESS BY THE MCE

INTRODUCTION

The Municipal Chief Executive of Assin Foso Municipal Assembly met the local media of Assin Foso on 8^th July 2025 to share his vision for the Municipality during his tenure of office. He indicated that his vision was to empower individuals, communities and drive innovations through cutting-edge solutions while fostering excellence development and improving the standards of living within the Municipality and urged the press to support these visions.

The Municipal Chief Executive highlighted some projects and programmes that would be focused.

AGRICULTURE 

The Municipal Chief Executive mentioned that as part of Government Flashship programme under the Feed Ghana Programme, indicated that the Assembly was actively rolling interventions aimed at boosting food production and ensuring food security. He indicated that 80 FBO/Cooperative had been registered on the platform compromising of 2100 farmers.

PLANTING FOR EXPORT AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT

Under PERD the Municipal Chief Executive indicated that 80,000 oil Palm Seedling would be supplied to 1,200 farmers before the end of 2025. He also mentioned that The Assembly intend to support 200 farmers each with inputs such as Fertilizers, Seeds, and Weedicide to boost rice production in the Municipality.

SOCIAL WELFARE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

DRUG ADDICTION

The Municipal Chief Executive indicated that he intend to extend sensitization programmes to schools, churches, mosque and communities on drug addiction among the youth in the Municipality. He again said that unannounced visitation to the selling point and ghettos with security personnel would be conducted. He

also stressed that mentally ill people would be removed from the street of Assin Foso.

EDUCATION

The Municipal Chief Executive in his statement indicated that in other to have quality education in the Municipality, the Assembly will provide all the needed funds to support activities of the Municipal Education Directorate and also intend to purchase table and chairs for teachers. On health, the Municipal Chief Executive indicated that two CHPS compound would be constructed to argument the existing hospitals for easy accessible to provide qualty healthcare services and also help reduce infant mortality in the Municipality.

SANITATION

The Municipal Chief Executive indicated that he will help purchase communal container and support Zoomlion with fuel to improve waste collection in the Municipality. He again said that he will construct walls and platform at all container sites.

In attendance were the various heads of departments in the municipal who briefly introduced themselves and the various duties they perform in the municipal. This afforded the press the opportunity to air their problems.
