As part of efforts to improve sanitation and environmental health within Assin Foso Municipality, the Assin Foso Municipal Assembly in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders organized a Clean-Up Exercise on Saturday, 1st April 2025. This exercise is aimed at ensuring a clean and safe environment which promote public health and impact economic development, promote good hygiene and sanitation practices, encourage community engagement and participation in environmental management and foster social cohesion.
The clean-up exercise witnessed the presence of some key stakeholders who graced and partook in the clean-up exercise. They included:
Assin Foso Entire staff
Environmental Health Officers (Supervising Officers) Zoomlion Ghana Ltd.
Market women and traders
Transport unions (GPRTU, ADIEMBRA and PROTOA) Security agencies (Police, Immigration and Fire Service,) Religious and Traditional leaders
Assinman Nursing and Midwifery, Foso College of Education and Obiri Yeboah SHS
The following are activities carried out during the clean-up exercise:
Sweeping of the principal streets, markets, and other public spaces
Desilting of choked gutters and drains in and around selected areas Weeding of grown weeds
Sensitization on proper waste disposal, food hygiene and environmental sanitation
Collection of pockets of accumulated of solid waste
